It’s a beautiful day outside. The sun is out, it’s not -30 and there is not a single cloud in the sky. It’s a day meant to be spent outside, and I’m getting there. First? I wanted to share about my latest boudoir session.
Heather was booked for her shoot, and I asked if she had any hobbies. She did, and one was painting. This gave me an idea that I decided to share with her. It went something like this:
Ashley: “So, if I get some washable paint, would you want to paint your body?” I never have been good at being subtle.
I was pumped when she loved the idea as much as I did. The shoot started out with some radiant shots of her working her curves, her smile, eyes and personality. She talked about what it feels like after having a baby, and that she just wanted to be comfortable in her own skin again. That’s what this shoot was for; a quest for self-acceptance.
She also wanted to do this shoot to remind women that their beauty never expires. It is not only meant for when you are 20, never been pregnant and feeling good. It’s for postpartum, 40 year olds, the body with scars, the curvy ones, the strong ones, the skinny ones. Boudoir is for everyone. Beauty is for every single body.
That is what I want to bring to light. To remind people that beautiful pictures don’t come from a certain body type. Beautiful pictures – amazing boudoir photos? They come from a woman full of laughter, a woman who has (or is working) to accept herself as she is and shows up for the camera. I can honestly say I have never loved a picture because a girl looked like society’s definition of beauty. No. I love pictures that show a person in love with life. A person caught up in the moment, and showing her heat on her skin.
I hope you enjoy this shoot as much as I did.
You’re beautiful 🙂
